Research conducted in 2012 resulted in a Report on Alcohol Consumption in Brazil, a study based on secondary sources with information and reflections on the consumption of alcoholic beverages in Brazil. This national study, developed within the former Public Health and Human Rights Area of the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (Flacso Brazil), sought to address the complexity of the phenomenon of drug use, taking into account the multiplicity of aspects that involve the experience of consuming these substances: psychological, ethical, sociological, cultural, legal, economic, political, in order to contribute to the construction of comprehensive public policies. In the survey of evidence on the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the country, this study considered both quantitative and qualitative studies.
Objectives
– Produce a significant aggregate of data that contributes to clarifying patterns and motivations of alcohol use in Brazil.
– Indicate the social harms resulting from its problematic use.
– Indicate the scope of public policies for serving the population directly or indirectly involved.
