A Cúpula Social do Mercosul se reuniu na última semana em Montevidéu, Uruguai. O encontro reúne organizações sociais e sindicais dos países-membros do Mercosul – Brasil, Argentina, Paraguai, Uruguai e Venezuela – e da Bolívia, em processo de adesão ao bloco, acontece semestralmente desde 2006 e está em sua 20ª edição.
A diretora da Flacso Brasil, Salete Valesan Camba, participou do painel de encerramento do encontro. Em ato simbólico, o representante do governo uruguaio para as Cúpulas Sociais, Federico Gomensoro, fez a transferência do comando desta instância à delegação venezuelana e pediu “respeito ao direito internacional”.
